Is anything more cruel that the sight of children being ripped away from their parents?

Recently, the Trump administration decided to implement an expansion of its “zero tolerance” policy for migrants seeking to cross the border, which seeks to separate children from their parents when they reach the border in order to deter asylum seekers from crossing. Children are being separated from their parents at the very time they are seeking protection from violence and persecution in their home country. According to the Florence Project in Arizona, there have already been more than 200 cases of parents being separated from their children since the beginning of the year in that state alone.  The government’s attempt to deter immigrants from seeking asylum by threatening to take their children away is unconscionable and does not represent the values and ideals of this nation. Congress must act to end this cruel policy and prevent the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice from deliberately separating families, simply because they are seeking a better life in the U.S.  We urge you to call your Representatives and tell them they must take action to end this cruel and inhumane policy.

What Can You Do?

Call 202-224-3121 and ask to be connected to your Members. When your Member office answers, please urge them to speak out against these cruel, inhumane family separation policies and tell them that Congress must act to pass legislation that would end family separation and stop human rights abuses in the name of immigration enforcement.
