The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today released a new report on American Muslims for Palestine (AMP), the anti-Israel organization behind this week’s ad campaign appearing on 25 Metro North train stations in New York.
The ad, which was announced on the first day of the Jewish holiday of Passover, shows an image of an Israeli aiming a weapon at a Palestinian child amid a background of the separation barrier between Israel and the West Bank.
The billboard campaign falsely accuses Israel of the crime of apartheid, ignores the complicated nature of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and is the latest example of AMP’s tactics to delegitimize and demonize the Jewish state. AMP has seized on this ad campaign in its continuing efforts to promote distinctly anti-Israel views to a wider American audience under the guise of educating Americans about ‘the just cause of Palestine.” AMP’s brand of activism, which employs various campaigns and initiatives, focuses on one goal; undermining the legitimacy of the Jewish state of Israel to promote the Palestinian cause.
ADL’s report details AMP’s established record of using false, biased and offensively anti-Israel materials to train students and Muslim community organizations throughout the country to advocate on behalf of the Palestinian cause. Since its founding in 2005, AMP has provided a platform for extreme anti-Israel messages, and at times, anti-Semitism. In more recent years, it has placed heavy emphasis on providing support and helping coordinate the activity of campus anti-Israel student groups, including Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), the primary organizer of anti-Israel events on campus, as well as high school students.
