ADL Offers Reward for Information Leading to Arrests in Recent Anti-Semitic Crime in Pearl River, N.Y.

New York, NY, August 5, 2014 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) is offering a $1,000 reward for credible information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for either of two anti-Semitic crimes that were recently perpetrated in Pearl River, N.Y.

ADL condemned the anti-Semitic and racist graffiti spree in Pearl River in which three vehicles and a driveway were vandalized on July 27 with swastikas, the Nazi ‘SS’ symbol, the words “white power,” “n—–” and other offensive obscenities.

This incident was followed by a second incident on August 3, in which anti-Semitic and other vulgar graffiti were spray painted on the greenhouses of Van Houten Farms in the nearby town of Orangeburg. There was extensive damage to the property and the farm’s American flag was also desecrated.

“This is the second anti-Semitic incident in the area over the past two weeks, and our hope is that by offering a reward, this will encourage anyone with pertinent information to share it directly with the Orangetown Police Department,” said Evan R. Bernstein, ADL New York Regional Director. “The Rockland County community should never have to wake up to horrific anti-Semitic and racist imagery sprawled out on their property.”

Anyone with information about the crime should contact the Orangetown Police Department at (845) 359-3700 and speak directly to Detective Lt. Brown or Detective Sgt. Garrecht.

The Anti-Defamation League, founded in 1913, is the world’s leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through programs and services that counteract hatred, prejudice and bigotry.  Follow us on Twitter: @ADL_NY
