New York, NY, June 18, 2024… ADL (the Anti-Defamation League) New York/New Jersey honored Laurie M. Tisch, a renowned philanthropist and advocate for social justice, with the Partner Against Hate Award at the 2024 Partners Against Hate Luncheon. The annual luncheon recognizes partners across all industries who make ADL’s work possible. It was held on June 10 at Cipriani 42nd Street and was attended by more than 400 supporters.

Laurie M. Tisch is a distinguished leader in the philanthropic community, known for her dedication to initiatives that enhance education, health, cultural access, and civic engagement. As the founder and president of the Laurie M. Tisch Illumination Fund, she has been instrumental in supporting innovative programs that address critical societal issues, including food security, mental health, arts education and access to the arts as a tool in healthcare.

“In this difficult moment, as antisemitic incidents continue to rise, it is so important to recognize leaders in our region who are making a difference in the fight against hate,” said ADL New York/New Jersey Regional Director Scott Richman. “Laurie’s work to increase access and opportunity for all New Yorkers has had a powerful impact, and we are pleased to honor her with the 2024 Partner Against Hate Award.”

“Laurie is an unyielding indefatigable source of hope, even in despairing times,” said keynote speaker Senator Cory Booker. “She has spent an untold fortune – not just in Jewish causes but in education, in understanding that the arts are not supplemental but vital and that every child should have access to them. She is doing the difficult work of laying foundations and empowering others so that they may have this strength and example to pursue their ideals.”

“I am deeply honored to receive the ADL Partners Against Hate Award,” said Laurie M. Tisch. “This recognition underscores the importance of standing together against hate and discrimination. I share this award with all those who work tirelessly to build more inclusive and compassionate communities.”

ADL New York/New Jersey also recognized two esteemed leaders in New Jersey, A. Ross Pearlson and Roy H. Tanzman, with the 2024 Edward Brodsky Founders Award.

“Ross and Roy are deeply committed to combating antisemitism and hate within the New Jersey community and we are proud to recognize them with the 2024 Edward Brodsky Founders Award,” said Scott Richman. “As dedicated leaders and Co-Chairs of ADL New Jersey’s Activist Group, Ross and Roy are an integral part of the fight against antisemitism in New Jersey and beyond.”

“It has been my honor and privilege to work with ADL and its staff in its vital mission of fighting hate, bigotry and antisemitism,” said Ross Pearlson

Ross Pearlson, Chair of Litigation at Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi PC, serves as a member of ADL NY/NJ’s Regional Board, is a Co-Chair of ADL NY/NJ’s Advisory Board and Co-Chair of the ADL New Jersey activist group.
