ADL Commends New York State AG Schneiderman for Leading Coalition on Challenging DACA Repeal

  • September 8, 2017

New York, NY, September 7, 2017 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today commended New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman for leading a coalition of states to challenge the repeal of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) in court.

Following President Trump’s executive action, Attorney General Schneiderman initiated the coalition and a lawsuit was subsequently filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.

“New York is home to over 40,000 DACA recipients — they are part of our state’s social, economic and moral fabric,” said Evan R. Bernstein, ADL New York Regional Director. “We support challenges to the revocation of DACA in congress, in the courts and in the court of public opinion. The lawsuit initiated by Attorney General Schneiderman on behalf of New York, 14 other states and the District of Columbia highlights serious problems with both the substance of the administration’s action and the process it followed.

“ADL will continue to work collaboratively to insure that DREAMers are protected,” Mr. Bernstein added. “We appreciate the leadership of AG Schneiderman in reaffirming New York’s commitment to just and humane immigration practice and policy.”
