On Sunday October 19th, members of ADL New York Region’s Next Generation Philanthropy Community (NGPC) and Education Committee visited PS 72 for A Day Of Difference, ADL NY’s 2nd annual volunteer day of service.
About 40 Volunteers from the NGPC and Education Committee worked together with 30 students, parents and teachers to create and paint a mosaic mural based on ADL’s theme of Imagine A World Without Hate™. ADL facilitators opened a dialogue with students, parents and volunteers to develop an understanding of name-calling and bullying behaviors. The volunteers and students learned how to be effective allies to targets of name-calling and bullying.
The program’s goal was to empower students and volunteers with skills to address bullying behaviors and deescalate hate throughout the community.
