The debate in Washington about how best to prevent a nuclear Iran is in high gear as the March 24th deadline for a framework agreement between Iran and Western powers approaches. Even amid the political controversy around Prime Minister Netanyahu’s visit to Washington and tension between Congress and the Administration, there is bipartisan agreement that the U.S. must do everything in its power to eliminate Iran’s ability to pose a nuclear threat. Policy makers on both sides of the aisle have an interest in being sure that any deal that emerges will not leave Iran with a path to build a nuclear weapon and that there will be consequences for Iran if negotiations fail.
Contact your Senators to urge their support for two critical bipartisan bills:
n The Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act of 2015 (S.615), sponsored by Senators Menendez (D-NJ), Corker (R-TN), Kaine (D-VA), and Graham (R-SC) would establish a procedure for congressional review of any nuclear agreement with Iran.
n The Nuclear Weapon Free Iran Act of 2015 (S.269) sponsored by Senators Kirk (R-IL) and Menendez (D-FL) allows the President to increase sanctions on Iran if nuclear negotiations fail to achieve a final agreement.
Take action now urging your Senators to join the bipartisan effort to secure the strongest possible agreement and to ensure that, if talks fail, Iran will pay a high price for refusing to end its nuclear weapons quest.
