ADL New York Regional Director Evan Bernstein told The Jerusalem Post this resolution “attempts to isolate, delegitimize, and weaken Israel’s standing in the global community.”“As such, the union’s resolution is in complete opposition to the ideals of academic freedom.”
In a statement Tuesday, the Anti-Defamation League praised the university “for unequivocally denouncing” the union’s “ill-conceived resolution.” “Other universities in New York facing similar resolutions should follow NYU’s appropriate condemnation by sending a strong message that BDS campaigns on campus hinder any productive dialogue regarding the highly complex Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and create unnecessary divisions among students,” the ADL statement said.
