Jewish Organizations Call on Mayoral Candidates to Condemn Dangerous Rhetoric in Advance of Tonight’s Debate

  • June 4, 2025

We, the undersigned Jewish organizations, call on all candidates in the New York City mayoral race to unequivocally condemn dangerous rhetoric—such as “globalize the intifada”—that has inspired deadly acts against Jews – mostly recently in Colorado, Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania.

These words are not abstract slogans. They are calls to violence that have resulted in real harm to Jewish communities across the country. In this moment of rising antisemitism, New Yorkers deserve leaders who will stand firmly against hate in all its forms, including the targeting of Jews under the guise of political expression.

New York is home to the largest Jewish population outside of Israel. Silence in the face of clear incitement to violence—sends a chilling message. We urge every mayoral candidate to speak out clearly: There is no place in our city for antisemitic rhetoric, intimidation, or attacks.
