New York, NY, April 6, 2016 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today said it was troubled by alleged anti-Semitic vandalism of an apartment building in the Borough Park neighborhood of Brooklyn, and welcomed the NYPD’s announcement that the incident is being investigated by its Hate Crimes Task Force.

On April 3, the words “F— Jews” were discovered spray-painted in the lobby of the apartment building largely occupied by Jewish tenants.

“It is reassuring to see once again New York’s finest taking incidents of abhorrent anti-Semitism seriously,” said Evan R. Bernstein, ADL New York Regional Director, and Andrew Frackman, ADL New York Regional Board Chair. “Borough Park is home to a vibrant Jewish community, rich in tradition, and the step to investigate as a potential bias-motivated crime sends a strong message that such hate will not be tolerated.”

Since September 2015, ADL has documented at least a dozen anti-Semitic incidents across New York City, including several in Brooklyn.
