SUMMARY:Israel Social Cohesion Summit 2021
DESCRIPTION:The Summit is part of ADL Israel’s commitment to building bridges and creating a constructive dialogue by convening all parts and giving voice to all communities in Israel. The Summit is the only major national conference in Israel that is fully translated into Arabic. \nThe first session will be held in the morning (from 3:00am-8:00am EST) and will be broadcast in Hebrew on YNET with simultaneous translation to English and Arabic. The second part of the day (11:30am-1:00pm EST) will be dedicated to Diaspora-Israel relations\, held in English and broadcast on The Times of Israel’s homepage. Jonathan Greenblatt\, ADL’s CEO & National Director\, will deliver opening remarks at this session. \nCLICK TO WATCH RECORDING  \n  \nBackground \nEstablished by ADL Israel in 2017\, The Israel Social Cohesion Summit has become a leading platform in Israel for a national conversation on the country’s most pressing societal challenges. With the participation of leading politicians\, journalists\, NGOs\, entrepreneurs and tech communities\, the 2017\,2018 and 2019 conferences were widely covered by the media. The last Summit held in 2019 gathered over 900 attendees including hundreds of 11th and 12th graders from schools representing Israel’s diverse population – Jews\, Arabs\, Druze\, Bedouins\, religious and secular. \nIt is important to note that for ADL the Summit is yet another example of ADL Israel’s commitment to building bridges – we seek to create a constructive dialogue and a civil conversation by convening all parts and giving voice to all communities in Israel. \nThe Summit is among the only major national conference in Israel fully translated into Arabic – a testament to ADL’s inclusion of minorities in Israel and our ability to reach out to them in their own language.

SUMMARY:ADL Report: White Supremacist Propaganda Spikes in 2020
DESCRIPTION:Today\, ADL released a new report\, which revealed white supremacist propaganda distribution surged across the U.S. in 2020\, with a total of 5\,125 cases of racist\, antisemitic\, anti-immigrant and anti-LGBTQ messages distributed\, nearly double the 2\,724 cases reported in 2019. ADL findings revealed a national average of 14 incidents per day\, reaching an all-time high in ADL’s tracking data\, and an alarming 68% increase in propaganda targeting Jews or Jewish institutions. Read ADL’s report to see how extremists are using increasingly visible incidents to spread fear and hate — and why we need your help now\, more than ever. \nWithin our region: \n\n\nADL recorded 308 incidents of white supremacist propaganda in New York\, which is a 72% increase from the 172 documented incidents in 2019. To read more regarding our New York findings\, please click here.\nIn New Jersey\, incidents drastically increased from 12 in 2017 to a record 323 incidents in 2020\, which is truly shocking and far outpaces almost any other region. To read more regarding our New Jersey findings\, please click here.\nThe report also includes a link to ADL’s H.E.A.T Map\, which is an interactive map showing where the propaganda distribution took place. Please note\, you can update the map view to zoom in on New York and New Jersey.\n\nADL ACTION ITEMS  \n\nThese spikes are part of the reason why ADL launched the PROTECT Plan\, a whole-of-society bipartisan strategy to significantly counter domestic terrorism and extremism. Read more about ADL’s PROTECT Plan here.\n\nDomestic terrorism is a threat that impacts everyone. We encourage you to urge policymakers to act now. You can call on Congress by signing this petition today. \n\nIf you witness extremist propaganda\, you should immediately report it to local law enforcement and alert ADL using our incident reporting platform. You can also show solidarity with those targeted and encourage public officials in your area to condemn the propaganda as an act of hate.

SUMMARY:ADL Report: Online Hate and Harassment: The American Experience 2021
DESCRIPTION:Today\, ADL’s Center on Extremism released a new report where 41% of Americans encountering some form of online hate and harassment\, being a victim online has become a common experience — and that experience does not appear to be improving.  \nIn the survey\, conducted online during January 2021\, respondents indicated that they experienced the most harassment on Facebook\, followed by Twitter\, Instagram and YouTube. These and other technology companies are not adequately gearing up to handle the magnitude of the problem\, regardless of what their public-facing statements say to the contrary. \nCLICK TO READ FULL REPORT  \n  \nOur new REPAIR Plan offers a clear and comprehensive framework for platforms and policymakers to take meaningful action to decrease online hate and extremism. It also holds platforms and individual perpetrators accountable for enabling online hate and extremism. \nThe REPAIR Plan demands that social media companies prioritize people over profit. They must stop amplifying inflammatory content to increase their ad revenue\, and they need to provide people who are harmed with effective access to reporting and remedies. \nTAKE ACTION AND PROTECT VICTIMS OF ONLINE HATE
