SUMMARY:From the Frontlines: Supreme Court Review - Part 2
DESCRIPTION:  \nSupreme Court Review – Part 2 \nThis week’s podcast focused on the 23rd Annual “Supreme Court Review\,” which took virtually on July 12th\, and is sponsored jointly by ADL and the National Constitution Center. It featured an interview with Steve Freeman\, ADL’s Vice President for Civil Rights\, who mounted the Review of this year’s very consequential Supreme Court Term. The podcast offers an insider perspective both on the event itself and on the most important statements made. Because there was much to discuss\, this podcast was broken into two parts\, and this is part 2. This second part also looked at the term to come and offered a sense of the cases that will be decided over the next year. \nThe full Supreme Court Review can be viewed on YouTube. Please click here to view the recording. \n  \nListen and follow from your preferred podcast platform: \n\nApple Podcasts\nSpotify\nSoundCloud

SUMMARY:From the Frontlines: The 113th NAACP National Convention
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe 113th NAACP National Convention \nIn the battle against hate\, coming together in coalition is critical to have an impact. Among the many civil rights groups\, faith groups and ethnic groups with whom ADL is proud to partner on issues that we share in common\, one of the most important is the NAACP. \nThis week\, the NAACP is hosting their 113th National Convention after a hiatus during COVID\, and ADL is a proud sponsor of this year’s Convention. The major gathering this year is taking place in Atlantic City which means that the New Jersey State Conference of the NAACP is hosting. ADL New York/New Jersey partners closely with the NJ NAACP. At the center of all of this is Richard Smith\, the President of the New Jersey State Conference of the NAACP. He is the guest on this edition of “From the Frontlines” to discuss this year’s Convention. \nFor more details on the NAACP National Convention\, visit naacp.org/convention. \n  \nListen and follow from your preferred podcast platform: \n\nApple Podcasts\nSpotify\nSoundCloud

SUMMARY:From the Frontlines: ADL Releases Annual Report of Online Hate and Harassment
DESCRIPTION:  \nADL Releases Annual Report of Online Hate and Harassment \nSocial media is a major frontline these days in the battle against hate and antisemitism. While it has many benefits and gives people a voice\, it also gives haters a voice. Once a year for the past four years\, ADL has surveyed this community to discern the degree to which people are experiencing hate and abuse online. \nWe just released the survey results for this year\, and Dr. Jordan Kraemer\, ADL’s Director of Policy and Research at its Center for Technology and Society\, joined the show to explain the findings. To view the full please visit the “Online Hate and Harassment: The American Experience 2021” report. \n  \nListen and follow from your preferred podcast platform: \n\nApple Podcasts\nSpotify\nSoundCloud

SUMMARY:From the Frontlines: A Discussion with Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown
DESCRIPTION:  \nA Discussion with Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown \nThere is no doubt that the frontline against hate on Saturday\, May 14th was in Buffalo\, New York at the Tops Friendly Market on Jefferson Avenue where a white supremacist went on a killing spree. It was a heinous attack against the black community which left 10 people dead and a community in mourning. A few hours later\, this show’s host flew to Buffalo\, first and foremost to show his solidarity – and ADL’s – with the black community\, but also to be a resource to law enforcement and to others. One of the first people that he met on the site of the attack was Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown. He is Scott’s honored guest for this very special “From the Frontlines” show\, which originally was a video interview as part of the ADL New York/New Jersey Annual Meeting on June 15\, 2022. \n  \nListen and follow from your preferred podcast platform: \n\nApple Podcasts\nSpotify\nSoundCloud

SUMMARY:From the Frontlines: ADL Confronts "The Mapping Project"
DESCRIPTION:  \nADL Confronts “The Mapping Project” \nOver the past few weeks\, Massachusetts has been a frontline in the battle against antisemitism as it was confronted with the “Mapping Project.” This website created by an anonymous group claims that there there is a conspiracy of “Zionism\, Policing and Empire” throughout Massachusetts. It then depicts a network of Jewish institutions\, donors\, elected officials and more who are part of a network that need to be “disrupted and dismantled.” \nADL and the organized Jewish community mobilized quickly in the face of this. The counter offensive has been led by Robert Trestan\, ADL’s Regional Director for New England and Vice President of the Western States Division. He was the guest on this edition of “From the Frontlines.” For more information on the “Mapping Project\,” visit adl.org/boston-mapping-project. \n  \nListen and follow from your preferred podcast platform: \n\nApple Podcasts\nSpotify\nSoundCloud

SUMMARY:From the Frontlines: ADL Advocates for the LGBTQ+ Community During Pride Month and All Year Long
DESCRIPTION:  \nADL Advocates for the LGBTQ+ Community During Pride Month and All Year Long \nPride month celebrates how far we have come in achieving gains for members of the LGBTQ+ community while recognizing how far we still have to go. ADL prides itself on being a strong ally to this community. But\, what does that mean? ADL’s National Civil Rights Counsel Karen Levit joined the podcast this week to discuss some important initiatives with which ADL is involved to advocate for civil rights for the LGBTQ+ community. \nKaren guides some of the most important work for ADL in this space\, including the “Faith For Pride” campaign\, which is mentioned in the podcast and can be accessed at www.faithforpride.org. ADL also has many pride month resources\, including educational resources\, which can be accessed at this link: www.adl.org/resources/tools-and-strategies/lgbtq-pride-month-and-education-resources. \n  \nListen and follow from your preferred podcast platform: \n\nApple Podcasts\nSpotify\nSoundCloud

SUMMARY:From the Frontlines: ADL and CSI Issue a Report on Hate in New York State
DESCRIPTION:  \nADL and CSI Issue a Report on Hate in New York State \nNew York is most certainly a frontline when it comes to antisemitism and hate as the state which is consistently home to the most antisemitic incidents across the nation\, as well as the site of many hate crimes and home to many extremists. The mass shooter in Buffalo a few weeks ago is one horrific example. ADL’s Center on Extremism together with our partner organization – the Community Security Initiative or CSI\, has just put out a major new report\, entitled “Hate in the Empire State: Extremism & Antisemitism in New York\, 2020-2021.” \nIt is a first-of-its-kind look at the state of hate in New York. Its author was the guest on this edition of “From the Frontlines.” \nClick here to read the full report. \n  \nListen and follow from your preferred podcast platform: \n\nApple Podcasts\nSpotify\nSoundCloud

SUMMARY:From the Frontlines: How Does ADL Navigate the Divide Between Right and Left?
DESCRIPTION:  \nHow Does ADL Navigate the Divide Between Right and Left? \nThe frontline against antisemitism and hate often comes down to the question of where you draw that line – in the center\, to the left or to the right on the ideological spectrum. Literally\, every day\, ADL has to draw that line. It has no choice\, as it is part of its DNA to respond to important\, and often controversial\, issues. How does ADL manage this ideological divide\, and how does it fend off attacks from both the left and the right by people who feel that ADL should be acting differently? This is the fundamental question that is dealt with on this show. Kenneth Jacobson\, ADL’s Deputy National Director\, joined the show to offer his expert reflections on this topic. \n  \nListen and follow from your preferred podcast platform: \n\nApple Podcasts\nSpotify\nSoundCloud
