ADL NY/NJ Real Estate Division Audit Briefing

May 5, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

According to ADL’s 2021 Audit, antisemitic incidents reached an all-time high of 2,717 in the U.S. — a 34% increase over 2020, with an average of more than seven incidents occurring per day, including assaults, harassment, and vandalism. Attacks against Jewish institutions, including Jewish community centers and synagogues, were up by 61%; incidents at K-12 schools increased 106%; incidents on college campuses rose 21%; and, our region continued to lead the nation in terms of total reported antisemitic incidents.ADL NY/NJ Regional Director Scott Richman and ADL’s Vice President of Law Enforcement and Analysis Greg Ehrie will explore this historic surge, take questions, and discuss the devastating string of antisemitic attacks we witnessed in our New York and New Jersey communities. You’ll hear how our team tracks and responds to incidents, works with our law enforcement and community partners, and how you can continue to stand with ADL in the fight against antisemitism and all forms of hate.

Each year, ADL’s Center on Extremism tracks incidents of antisemitic harassment, vandalism, and assault in the United States. Since 1979, we have published this information in an annual Audit of Antisemitic Incidents. Antisemitic incidents tracked in the 2021 Audit of Antisemitic Incidents reached an all-time high of 2,717 in the United States last year – an average of more than seven incidents per day and a 34 percent increase year over year, including assaults, harassment and vandalism. This is the highest number on record since ADL began tracking antisemitic incidents in 1979.
