The New York Region Lawyers Division welcomed the next generation of legal leaders at the opening breakfast of the 2014 Summer Associate Research Program (SARP). The morning was hosted by Hahn & Hessen Associate and SARP Co-Chair Sarah Gryll. Over 35 summer associates representing 21 top firms attended. The featured speakers were Deborah Lauter, ADL’s Director of the Civil Rights Division and Michael Cardozo, Partner at Proskauer and former Corporation Counsel for the City of New York. Both Deborah and Michael emphasized the value and meaning of pro-bono and public service work in one’s legal career.

SARP is a nationally recognized program that provides law firms the opportunity to provide ADL with cutting edge legal research on civil rights issues while exposing emerging attorneys to ADL’s mission and the importance of pro bono work. Over the last several years more than 100 firms and over 500 summer associates have participated in the program, writing thought provoking memos on critical ADL issues. This year the New York Region will be holding the first annual Memo Competition, where the summer associate or team of summer associates with the best memo will be recognized at the 2014 Human Relations Award Luncheon.
